Former Trans World Airlines employees and their families gathered July 18 at the North Platte Historical Museum in Dearborn to reconnect and share memories of the airline that once played a significant role in the region’s economy.

Former TWA employees participate in a recorded roundtable discussion July 18 at the North Platte Historical Museum. A new public-address system, funded through a Missouri Humanities Council grant, allowed attendees to hear the speakers.

The fourth “Remembering TWA” gathering featured displays of airline photographs, artifacts and memorabilia. Former employees participated in recorded roundtable discussions about their experiences and TWA’s importance to its workers, their families and surrounding communities.

An informal, drop-in format gave members of the extended TWA “family” time to visit with former co-workers and contribute their own stories throughout the day.

This year’s discussions were supported by a new public-address system purchased through a Missouri Humanities Council grant, making it easier for attendees to hear each speaker as the museum recorded their recollections for preservation.
