At the Platte County Historical Society’s fall dinner meeting Oct. 18 in Platte City, society President Becky Bauer presented the Betty Soper Award to Ivan Foley, who attended with his wife, Linda.
Foley was recognized for his contributions to preserving local history during his decades as editor of The Landmark. He retired earlier this year after selling the newspaper.
“I am truly honored and grateful,” Foley wrote in a post on the historical society’s Facebook page. “It was always a privilege to help cover and preserve the stories, traditions and memories that connect Platte County to its past, and I deeply appreciate this recognition.”
