The West Platte R-II School District’s 2026-27 student-parent handbook includes guidelines governing students’ use of artificial intelligence.
Students may use AI for schoolwork only with the guidance and approval of a teacher or other district staff member. Any AI-assisted work must follow the teacher’s instructions, cite the AI tool as a source and not be presented as entirely the student’s original work.
The handbook prohibits students from using AI without permission to take tests, complete assignments, write papers or create multimedia projects. Such use may be considered cheating or plagiarism and could result in loss of credit, a grade reduction, course failure or other disciplinary action.
