What does one do when their friend says they have never been to the Platte County Fair? You put your big girl pants on and take her. 

I have not been to the fair in such a long time, my mouth was watering for a Krautburger - the ones sold at the grandstand, where years ago I remember Rossy Shenkner always being at the helm. They didn’t disappoint; it was just as I remember! Another food worth noting was the Spicy Cheetos Corn Dog I spotted Holt Nance of Weston enjoying! 

Next, we headed over to the demolition derby. Being on the shorter side doesn’t help when you don’t arrive early enough to snag a seat, but the crowd was going wild with excitement as Nikolas Farr won his heat. 

As the next heat was getting ready to start, we walked over to the Platte Purchase building. Where lo and behold outside we ran into Rick Hill and Chuck Sebus both of Weston and stopped by to say hi. Once inside, Cherry Bomb was entertaining the crowd, with people dancing and having a great time. Plus, as it was getting a little humid out so the A/C was a bonus. Here we met little Georgia Kay Gates and her mom Kara from Kansas City. 

Fashion at the fair was as expected--lots of short shorts and cowboy boots- with a few stand outs in my book. CJ Elmore from Platte City, along with Kailey Stockwell and Lauren Bure both of Parkville, were my best dressed picks from the fair. 

Our night wouldn’t be complete without a stop at the Dirty Shame to hear Outlaw Jim and the Whiskey Benders. The room was crowded, I even spotted Art Kriebel and Teresa Wayman from Beers to You in Weston, enjoying a night off. Tables were a hot commodity and we were lucky to find a spot. The band was great as usual, making it the perfect end to a fantastic evening at the fair.
