Eight students from the West Platte FBLA chapter attended the Missouri Fall Leadership Conference Aug. 30-31 in Columbia, where they developed leadership skills, met students from other schools and participated in interactive activities.
Attending were seniors Lily Bogart and Carter Conrad; juniors Saige Cashman and Finley Wallingford; and freshmen Ben Bogart, Zach Carlitte, Meyer Hoffman and Silas Reinke. FBLA adviser Rachal Lamp accompanied the students.
During the conference, students attended workshops focused on leadership and personal growth. Sessions covered communication, teamwork, decision-making and strategies for becoming more confident and effective leaders. Through hands-on activities and discussions, students learned how to apply those skills at school and in their future careers.
Guest speaker Kyle Willkom encouraged students to consider what it means to be a strong leader and challenged them to step outside their comfort zones. Students also participated in games and activities designed to teach cooperation, clear communication, trust and adaptability.
The conference gave FBLA members an opportunity to develop skills they can use in their daily lives. Students left with new ideas about leadership and a better understanding of how they can positively influence their school, community and future workplaces.
